Error #72133 during installation

* This support article also relates to recurring errors 1603 and 1618 during installation.

 

This error indicates there was a Windows Installer related problem (Soluto uses Microsoft's Windows Installer to setup on the computer). The error could be caused by a number of issues, please go through the steps below.

First, make sure you are not running the install from Windows Safe Mode, as this method is not supported. 

 

1. Run the Soluto Uninstall Cleanup Tool:

Download and run the Soluto Uninstall tool, which will remove any Soluto leftovers from previous installation. The tool will run in the background and popup a small notification in the System Tray when it completes:

Please reboot the PC after running the uninstall tool. 

2. Delete Downloaded Program Files and Temporary Files:

Most often, deleting temporary files will resolve the issue. Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Computer / My Computer and right click on your system drive (usually C), select Properties.

  2. Click on Disk Cleanup and make sure that "Downloaded Program Files", "Temporary Internet Files"and "Temporary Files" are checked as shown in the screenshot below (please note that this operation will not delete the files you've downloaded to your "Downloads" folder):

3. Install the latest Windows Installer version from Microsoft's website:

This step is relevant for Windows XP and Windows Vista users, as Windows 7 & Windows 8 comes pre-installed with a newer version of Windows Installer.

Download the file relevant to your system:

4. Re-register the Windows Installer Service:

This step is relevant for all Windows versions.

Please follow these steps to repair the Windows Installer service, and continue with the installation:

 

  1. Click Start - Run (or Start - type Run for Windows Vista and up)
     
  2. In the "Open" box, type the command: "msiexec /unreg".

  1. Open Run again (same as step 1)
     
  2. Type "msiexec /regserver".

For Windows 64bit also perform the following:

  1. Start - type Run, open.
     
  2. Type: %windir%\Syswow64\Msiexec /unregister

  1. Reopen Run and type:
    %windir%\Syswow64\Msiexec /regserver  

 

5. Manually start the Windows Installer Service:

This step is relevant for all Windows versions. 

Please follow this steps to restart the Windows Installer service:

 

  1. Click Start - Run, or type Run if you're using Windows Vista and up.
     
  2. Type: services.msc
     
  3. Locate the Windows Installer service and click Start, to Start the service.

  1. Run the installation again.

  

6. Installation still fails?
