Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service Error

Please note that this error could be caused by a number of different causes, and this troubleshooting guide is intended for users who started experiencing the error after installing Soluto. 

Failed to connect to a windows service.

Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond."

In most cases, the issue is caused by faulty Font Cache files, which Soluto utilizes during boot, and thus the error appears after installing Soluto (can be verified by checking the Windows Event Viewer for errors during boot). 

To resolve the issue, please try to reset the Font Cache files:

  1. Click on Start, type Services.msc and open it.
     
  2. Find Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0 and Stop it by right-click - Stop. 
    Find Windows Font Cache and stop it too (you might not have both)

  3. Go to this location: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local 

    The folders might be hidden, if you're unable to locate please enable hidden files: For Windows Vista /7: Open Computer, go to Organize - Folder and search options - View - select "Show hidden files. folders, and drives".

  4. Rename the file: Fontcache3.0.0.0.dat to Fontcache3.0.0.0.old, also rename the file FontCache-System.dat to FontCache-System.old.
    Right click the file --> Rename or hit the F2 key on your keyboard.

  5. Restart your machine.
