Click on one of the PCs you are helping with and then click on Apps (marked in orange).
You will see a list of the existing apps on that PC that you can update, followed by a list of apps the person doesn’t have and can be remotely installed.
Can the path of the installation be defined or does it all get installed to c:\ ?
Hi Mike, currently there's no custom installs.
Would the ability to allow custom install locations be possible in future versions?
Duncan, it is something we're considering, but I'm afraid I cannot specify if and when. Sorry.
How to suggest more apps to install?
The available list is quite limited...
Jochen, you can either suggest them here, or in "Share your ideas". I believe there are quite a few app suggestions there.
I'm trying to use the update facility on a remote machine, and from what I see the updates are not being applied (30 minutes after selecting "update all" page refresh on status shows no change from "Update in progress." Any suggestions on what to do next? I can, of course, update this stuff manually as an alternative (and already did so on my primary production PC when I encountered the same problems there). Thanks,
Hi Ed, I checked your account and the updates did not fail, but are still pending. We install background updates when your PC becomes idle, so we don't interfere with your PC usage. The updates should take place soon enough.
Keep us updated.
OK, good to know. I was curious about the process involved. I'm guessing if I disconnect the remote access session from my i7 PC, those updates will probably commence soon thereafter. Apparently my attempts to observe and measure activity were in fact preventing the activity from occurring! Why I asked about it, in fact...
Hi Ed, I checked your account again today, and it looks like your PC hasn't communicated with our servers for quite some time (therefore the remote action is not starting). Can you either restart the PC or run Soluto locally to trigger communications?
I had selected the option to update all my apps but my computer shut down due to power failure. now soluto shows its updating but it doesn't.
how to check if soluto is still updating my apps?
Hi nipun - once the PC is up and running, we will try again and update those apps for you.
@Phil - I'm very sorry but that is not possible. I hope you'd be able to recover your laptop.
There should be a way to run any .exe over soluto. This will allow for any headless installer to be run. however, it would be useful for the remote computer to get a notification about what this executable does and why it is being run. (As this opens a back door for anything to be done via soluto.)
I would like the option to select an app of my choosing to install. Namely, I'd like to deploy LogMeIn or VNC to my parents' machine.
Hi, When I push for example "Update JAVA", I can see after pushing "Update in Progress". I know the computer is not Online. When I do a refresh again on the same configuration. I can see again the possibility to "Update" JAVA. Why is it not more in "Update in Progress". When can I exactly push the Update? Must the computer be ONLINE?Soluto installation was made yesterday 26.02.2013.Regards.Dag
Hi Dag, you can push the update when the PC is offline through the web, and Soluto will install the update once it's online. There's currently an issue with Java as we might offer an update even though Java is already updated to the latest version (I checked your account and this is the same issue). We're working on a fix.
Hi, I used the update function recently and now Soluto says everything is updated. Only VLC did not update. The version is still 2.0.7 while Soluto is now saying it is 2.0.8. Hope you can shed some light on the issue. Thanks!
Hi there, I checked your machine and we see that the update was successful. If that's not the case, please submit a private request, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and include a screenshot showing the VLC version, plus Soluto's local logs (see how-to guide).
Done! thnx for the reply :).
I noticed on the Ninite website (which I noticed is what you use) that there alot more apps supported and available than what is available via the Soluto interface. I was just wondering why that is. For example, I like ImgBurn and recommend it over CDBurnerXP,.
hi Joshua, we add apps that have undergone testing in our labs, generally one from each category and only full free versions.
Is there a list of applications, that Soluto can update?
