Soluto for mac OS X?

Karttikeya Bihani
suggested this on December 13, 2011 04:28 PM

I would like, rather love to know about when Soluto is coming on OSX. I know this is the beta version of the beta version (pun intended), but would still love to know about the progress on OSX. This service and idea seemed pretty awesome and I've been lucky enough to get the code and sigh up for it. I use a Mac and still sighned up for it, don't know why? probably its THAT awesome (?)

With the wonderful/dreadful cycle of fixing the family's computers every year around holidays, this app will definitely make the rapairs less dreadful.

That's definitely the piece of software I've been waiting the whole life from the very beginnig of my "so called sysadmin carrier"!

I find Soluto to have a great future, and I'm gonna make a huge testing of it in the nearest 2-months on my PC's, but what I definitely didn't expect was the fact it still doesn't support Mac OS! Thank everybody who is in charge of making this product, as a new user I believe you've already done a lot to save my nerves with my users, but I was definitely blinded by screenshots from howtogeek - there might have been a windows-containing macbook. That's a pity.

The computers I'm working on are about 60% PC's and 40% Mac's so I hope the mac version will be out someday. Anyways, great job everybody! Waiting for updates

focus first on the windows variant. then on linux and mac os cause its almost the same;)

also windows pc's need far more help and trouble shooting then a linux pc or mac computer.

I'm waiting eagerly for a Mac version- would the arrival of Mac versions also mean that both macs and pcs can be helped from a single pc/mac?

Eagerly awaiting Soluto for Mac OS X - even if there is a way to manage Windows from Mac will be fine for starters :-)

Hi guys,

We'd love to hear your thoughts regarding Mac - for example, what are the most important features you'd like to see for Mac? or what features would Mac users need, that PC users might not? Please share your ideas with us :)

Thanks,
Maya

I'd first want to see the exact similar thing for Mac OS X. I'd like to play with it and try it out....and then suggest idea's if I have any.

Hi Maya,

I would just start with being able to control other PCs from one's Mac. i.e. no need to fix things on a mac

This should be super valuable for people, as many younger more technical folks have macs, while their patents / people who are less techies have PCs. This also going to be much easier for your product/eng folks, since it's just the controlling part of the app and not the more difficult "fix my mac" part.

Yep, noticed that after I wrote the post (-:

Maybe it's just me but the UX was a bit confusing for me, since you see at the top of the home page "My PCs", and the initial thought was that I need to first install something on my computer before I can add "people I can help".

"We'd love to hear your thoughts regarding Mac - for example, what are the most important features you'd like to see for Mac? or what features would Mac users need, that PC users might not? Please share your ideas with us :)"

well regarding what would be important are startup items, updates (OS and iTunes, app store updates if possible too) and problems in the OS. also look at backups made from time machine (not the data but the last one etc). also the ability to install items like the windows version has would be a great addon.

Regarding what I would like to see available for managing Macs, I would love to be able to see the essentials. Looking at Activity Monitor gives a good picture of the overall computer's current usage. I am an I.T. Manager for a private elementary so I am looking at all of these things pretty often. I use Remote Desktop, Server Admin as well as other tools to manage our machines. I've looked into LogMeIn and use Ignition on my iPad and iPhone for remote access when I'm off the network, but it doesn't provide me with a snapshot of information about what the machine is currently running, how the processor is being used, how much RAM is being utilized, etc. Being able to see those sorts of things without having to actually having to go through VNC would be awesome!

Just wondering if you guys will be having MAC support soon. I have a few friends that have asked me since they saw my

PC and that it was running SOLUTO. Hope that it will be soon or in the VERY near future.

  Thanks

By the way, my PC is running great with SOLUTO so thanks a million.

For the Mac version it will be great:

 - Startup apps chooser

- RAM Memory Optimization & Cleaning

- USB Drives Cleaning (this could be for windows too)

- Force running of Mac OS X optimization routines

When you make it please make it available as Alpha/Beta/Experimental whatever you want to call the earlier, possibly semi-broken versions!

I'm a little perplexed by this? Mac is based on Free BSD (Very close to Linux) granted it has been forked long enough to be called its own. It is still at its core a nix type OS. So why not plan to support Linux systems but do Mac?

Just weird to me.

Probably because the app will be written in objective-c.

16 months after we heard from a Soluto rep "definitely planning to create a Soluto version for OSX in the future" and still nothing, not even a beta. I guess the OSX version is nothing more than Vaporware. :(

My Win7 PC takes three minutes to boot, which is actually a huge improvement thanks to Soluto.  It may never boot as quickly as my OSX laptop (about 10 seconds), but I would definitely like a better view in to background applications and settings of my Macbook.

It's a bit worrying though that this thread has been running since 2011, and there's still no OS X support. It's a great product, but this missing feature is holding me back from buying the bigger package.

Just found out about Soluto and am a little disappointed that I am not able to support my Macs at home. This thread has been going on for nearly 2 years. As a former developer, I know getting it right the first time is important. Any reason why it is taking so long to release even a 1.0 version for Mac OS X? With the upcoming release of OS X Mavericks, there are more things to consider - so hopefully it won't just be supported on Mountain Lion.  I'll keep my free version and wait to see how much longer before OS X is supported.
