  • Can I use Soluto on Windows 8?
    • Yes. You can use Soluto from a Windows 8 machine and you can also use Soluto to support Windows 8 PCs.
    • You can use Soluto on any machine online at www.soluto.com or download Soluto from the Windows Store and access it straight from your Start screen.

  • Is Soluto available in the Windows Store?
Yes, both the Soluto Desktop app and the Soluto Windows 8 app are available in the Windows Store. The Soluto Windows 8 app, which was one of the very first apps in the Store, gives users another way to experience Soluto on the Modern UI - and it’s especially fun to use on touch devices.

  • How can I get my PC to start in the classic desktop mode instead of the tile mode?
    • Soluto allows you to switch from the Windows 8 Start screen to the Classic Desktop, plus brings back the Start button and Start menu too.
    • To get the Classic Desktop mode and bring back the Start button:
(Make sure you are managing your Windows 8 PC with your Soluto account.)
      1. Go to your Soluto dashboard.
      2. Click on your Windows 8 PC
      3. Under the navigation bar you’ll find the section designed to allow you to improve your Windows 8 experience.

      4. Click “Switch to Classic Desktop”. This will install an app called Classic Shell onto your PC which brings back the Start button and menu.
    • The classic Start button and menu will appear on your screen right away and the next time you turn on your PC you’ll get to the desktop mode instead of the Windows 8 Start screen.

  • Where is the Start button and Start menu in Windows 8?

The classic Start button and Start menu have been excluded from Windows 8. You can still access the features previously available in the start menu by opening the new ‘Charms bar’ (a menu that appears when the cursor is placed in the top or bottom right corners of the screen) and clicking ‘Start’. Windows 8’s alternative to the start menu is the Start screen, which provides all the functionality of the Start menu and more. If you miss the Start button, you can use Soluto to bring it back.
